Nanotec Electronic GmbH & Co. KG is one of the leading manufacturers of motors and controllers/drives for high-performance drive solutions. The company has been developing and marketing a broad range of products since 1991. Nanotec technology is primarily used in automation systems, laboratory automation, medical engineering, the packaging industry and semiconductor production.
In 1996, Nanotec came out with the first Plug & Drive motor with an integrated controller/drive, setting a milestone. Today, Nanotec continues to focus heavily on research and development to create drive solutions that closely meet the needs and requirements of our customers. The R&D department and low-volume production are located in Feldkirchen and Bulgaria, whereas high volumes are produced at the company site in China and then further processed in Germany.
For CTO Dr. Christian Hainzlmaier, CIO Jörg Wiemann, CSO Durmus Özcan, CFO Elke Zec, and CEO Stephan Huber, the increasing automation is a future trend that opens up new potential – in production processes as well as in service robotics.
In January 2026, Nanotec received the TOP 100 award for innovative mid-sized companies in Germany for the fourth time.
The competition is organized by compamedia and evaluated by an independent research team led by Professor Dr. Nikolaus Franke of WU Vienna University of Economics and Business.
The assessment covered not only concrete innovation outcomes, but also the long-term innovation potential of the participating companies.
Nanotec stood out particularly in the “External Orientation/Open Innovation” category, once again ranking among Germany’s top innovators.
